As well as growing this fine tea Jiangsu is famous for being the home of the Yixing teapot.Yixing is a town in Jiangsu which is famous for it's 'purple clay' tea ware. The Yixing teapots, cups and other tea ware produced is of a very fine quality and sought after all over the world.

The climate of the Dongting Mountains is fantastic for the cultivation of fine teas and has tea growing history of over 1000 years. The area is warm in the winter and coolin summer and has very pure air. In fact it's perfect for growing tea.

This tea originally had a very strange name. It was called, "frightening or scaring tea", due to its powerful aromatic fragrance. The name Biluochun or Pi Lo Chun was eventually given to the tea by an Emperor called Kang Xi. He decided this was a more fitting name for the tea than the nick name "frightening tea".

The leaves of this excellent tea are very fragile and must be picked carefully. The fragrant leaves are best harvested between late March and early April. These delicate leaves are quite small, curled and have a very fine aromatic bouquet.

This superior tea grows amongst peach, plum and apricot trees which gives it a distinctive fresh taste.
